We started more than a year ago. We found the car, we took it apart, fully restored and now it is ready for you. Read the story below for a short preview of the process or check the “current project” page to see an in-depth explanation with pictures attached.

Stages

First Meeting

This is one of the most difficult stages. There are quite a lot of cars out there, those are in various stages of their life. The difficulty is to find a car in good fair condition. Infinity of factors will influence the process and the end result. We found our beauty with barely any rust with matching chassis and engine numbers to documentation. The car body was never deformed by any accidents which assure good fit for the original parts and your safety.

StrippingDown

Once we find the car we bring it into the workshop and strip it completely naked to understand what are we dealing with. Mostly in this phase, you would also uncover the unpredictable factors. Those small things that you can see when you view the car before purchase: non-original parts, custom modifications, bodywork after accidents etc… Some parts will go to cleaning and polishing, some will be restored, some have to be thrown away and replaced with originals that we hunt for. That is where the project can easily get stuck for a long while. In our case, the front sits were not original. For people in the industry, is not a secret, that those sits are very rare and hard to come across in good or acceptable condition.

Cleaning and Polishing

When we take the car apart we sort the parts into a few categories. Sanding, polishing, restoring and garbage. Most of the cleaning is done manually, with attention to detail and meticulous patience since we don’t want to damage any original parts. Once we are done we move on into the most exciting stage or assembling everything with hope to hear the engine roar. In this stage, we also determine what is missing and should be hunted. Some parts take month to find on the market.

PaintWork

After we disassemble the car into pieces we send it to our partners to do paintwork. The previous paint is removed, the car is cleaned and freshly painted. The paint has a very specific methodology of application to achieve the highest possible quality and give it the original look. We must admit, the color the car had was not really appealing to us when we found it the first time. It was a bit dull… But after we painted it into Bahama Yellow, the original paint that came from the factory, the car was stunning. Do be mistaken, the car is painted also on the bottom, with dark black.

Assemble

As soon as the body came back from the paint shop we start putting it all together. The first and more important is the engine, we make it “roar” again, make sure it is tunned all of cleaned and polished parts are working well together. As we get the body of the car back we make sure that the paint is applied strictly according to Porsche’s guidance and achieved the desired look.

Finished

Finished car still goes through last detail finish, tunning the wheels, the engine, and the interior. This is a very lengthy process as we are also hunting for the last parts during this stage like original wheels, bolts, and covers. However, the result now is stunning!
